Event Team


Greg Flynn
Role: Overall Coordinator
Profile: Greg was the founding father of the Waitangi Carnival, after coordinating the 2006 event all on his own as well as controlling all 5 races. In 2007 Greg was once again at the forefront of the event, co-coordinating the event as well as setting a race as well as controlling another! In 2008 Greg is once again co-coordinating proceedings and can't wait to share our great event with all of you who have heard so much about it!



Simon Addison
Role: Overall Coordinator
Profile: Simon has set races in both 2006 and 2007. In 2008 that trend continues. He is also managing the website for 2008 and has been looking forward to making the site more automated than what it was in 2007. Simon joined Greg as overall coordinator in 2007.



Martin Peat
Role: Sport Ident
Profile: Martin is a qualified A-grade controller who has mastered the art of Sport Ident. For both 2006 and 2007 he has been in charge of Sport Ident for Waitangi. Martin has also been involved in lots of other events including the National Championships in 2007.



Neil Kerrison
Role: Finances / Setter
Profile: Neil is a trained accountant and has been given the job of finances for 2008. He is also setting the courses for the CD Champs. In both 2006 and 2007 Neil was a course setter, as well as doubling up as a controller for the loops race in 2007.



Claire Paterson
Role: Controller
Profile: Claire has set races for the last 2 Waitangi events, setting the sprint in 2006 and the loop race in 2007. For 2008 she will be using the experience of her loop setting, to control the loop race. Claire also designed the logo for the 2007 and 2008.



Nick Harris
Role: Setter
Profile: Nick is a relatively new to the sport compared to many out there. He has really taken a liking to it and enjoys fun events. Nick joins the organising team for 2008 having previous setting experience in things such as the Auckland OY Series. Nick is to set the loop race.



Brent Edwards
Role: Controller
Profile: Brent is currently the navigator for the successful adventure racing team Orion Health. He lives in Rotorua and is teaming up with Angela Simpson of Rotorua to organise the first race of the event. Brent is the controller.



Jamie Stewart
Role: Setter
Profile: After refusing to help for the first two years Jamie has agreed to set a race in 2008. He is setting the Chasing Start race.



Kate Rea
Role: Accommodation
Profile: Kate is originally from the Hutt Valley, and is currently studying Medicine at Auckland University.
