R&R SPORT WICKED ROGAINE 2012 - PROVISIONAL RESULTS

Click here for provisional results: here

Thanks to all the teams for coming! We hope to see you all in our future events.

Dear Rogainers,

We hope you are all well and amping up for this weekend.

Event: The event will start at the bottom of the hill, at the Living Springs Farm Park. Car park will be located at the Living Springs turn off and will be signed. Registration will be open from 3pm and located at the main marquee.

Clipcards: We will be using clipcards. Please bring some bungy cord if you want to have the card around your wrist or want to make sure you don't lose it (only one card per team). We will have a hole punch available there for you to make the holes. We put lots of effort to make sure all controls and punchers are there, but please bring a pen just in case there is any puncher missing (The controls will also have a code written). The controls are marked on the map with their values and on the description you will also have the clipcard box number which is the box number you need to punch at each control. We will have a sample of the clipcard on the message board for you to have a look.

Course tips:

Electric fences - There are lots of electric fences on the course and assume they will be ON. Please make sure that you cross them safely, you can use your map bag to insulate against shocks as you cross them.

Mountain Bike tracks - Some of the mountain bike tracks are marked on the map just to illustrate them and they are not 100% accurate. Be careful if you are traveling on these tracks as they will be open to bikers, keep your ears open!

Stinging Nettle - There are some of them along the course, be carefull.

Gates: Please leave the gates the same way you found them. When crossing, make sure you always cross at the hinge end.

We are looking forward to seeing you all there!

Happy training!

Nora and Ian

Registration and maps will be available from 3pm. Event starts at 4pm. Teams can enter on the day($5 late fee charged), but we encourage to pre enter to guarantee a map (by the end of the day on Thursday, the 22nd).

The 2012 entry form is now available as a pdf here or if you wish to email us your entry form as a word document here

Event 4 Report

It was hard to imagine when the hooter blasted at just after 6pm, on a sunny Wednesday night, that by 7.30pm we'd be surrounded by dark clouds, hail and lightening! Very dramatic!!!

Congratulations to all who competed and braved the elements. The range of condition of the score sheets returned to us went from like new to a ball of mushed paper. On the whole most were quite legible. Please check your scores and if you think we've missed a control or two off your route then let us know.

There were lots of route choices in this event. The high scoring controls had lots of visitors with control number 80 (the tree in the horse paddock) visited by 76 of 78 teams. No teams visited the seat high up on White Wash heads and just one team visited Shag Rock.

Control # 53 (on the fence just above Cpt Thomas track) proved a testing one to find and some teams went to the wrong place when trying to find control 100 (the rock by the bridge on Cpt Thomas track) and wrote down a clue from some other event (we guess).

Four teams took part in the Sumner Beach Run (a fund raiser for the Sumner running club) and earned themselves 300 points. For each person that competed in the run we gave Sumner running club $5.

Two teams shared the top score for the night. Aaron and Dave (Dave the destroyer & his side kick) and Ross and Tane (The Indestuctibles) both nabbed a very good 1930 (out of a possible 2000).

Next week at Taylors Mistake is the final event. We will have the prize giving afterwards and all going well we will have BBQ sausages for everyone. If you would like your vegetarian sausages cooked for you for when you finish please give them to Ian before you start.

To be eligible for an overall series prize at least two members of your team must have competed in at least 4 events in the series. The best results from 4 of the events count towards the overall series ranking.

See you at Taylors Mistake!

Yours in direction,

Nora and Ian
