The VASQUE U23's are New Zealand's first elite youth adventure racing team. The team was formed in 2007 after a harsh selection weekend and went on to perform well in the Kiwi Summer Adventure Races, ARC 24hr race and Whakatane 24hr race. Team members continued to excel in their individual sports, including Seamus Miekle gaining his first overseas adventure racing experience at the 2008 Wulong Mountain Quest in China.

With team member Thomas Reynolds and Rosie Taylor unavailable for 2009. The team organised a trial weekend to determine replacements. After a weekend in the Hunuas runner James Kuegler and kayaker Hannah Lowe were selected to join the team, which now looks forward eagerly to the ARC 24hr race coming up in March.

Continued sponsorship has been pledged from VASQUE, SILVA, bridgedale, LARABAR, Day Two, ARC and MADevents. Further sponsorship is being negotiated. Experienced adventure racers interested in assisting this team should contact Seamus Miekle.
