Welcome to the homepage for NIGHT NAV, the Adventure Navigation series of races organised by the Bivouac Outdoor Southerly Storm orienteering team. NIGHT NAV has been running since the turn of the century and will return later this year!
NIGHT NAV events are held in Spencerville Forest on the edge of Christchurch. Competitors walk, run or bike through the forest collecting checkpoints, which are shown on the map handed out just before the start. Runners and walkers can cut across the forest, through the sanddunes...while the bikers explore the network of single tracks.
All competitors have an hour to collect as many checkpoints as posible before returning, often in a rush, to the finish. You can compete in teams or individual, its a great social adventure. Get some friends together and give it a go! Thanks to Bivouac Outdoor for helping us to keep this event going!

Latest NewsNight Nav 2008 - Event #1 Report21 August 2008 As usual the Night Navigation Series had a clear blue sky for the first event to keep it as light as possible. The lights went in all kind of directions and soon disapeared into the dark forest after the start. All Over for 2007 24 September 2007 The Bivouc Outdoor Night Nav series is complete for 2007. Series titles were decided on the last night, with some established names and some new names coming to the fore. Race 2 Report 17 September 2007 We had another fine night for Event 2 of the Bivouac Outdoor Night Navigation Series – and a fair bit warmer than the first week. Starting from the Bower Ave entrance .... Race 1 Report 10 September 2007 A dry night and a sky festooned with stars was laid on for competitors in the first event of the 2007 Bivouac Outdoor series. Setting off bang on 7pm... Bivouac Outdoor Sponsorship 28 August 2007 Bivouac Outdoor has announced renewed sponsorship of both the Night Nav Adventure Navigation Series and the Bivouac Southerly Storm Orienteering Team. |
